    "I have two comments to share with you. 1) This was my first service for my Mini, so the service was included under the purchase marketed as "comprehensive maintenance for 36,000 miles". I was surprised when my service adviser Brian told me that my car would also be needing a fuel system flush in another month (at the one year mark) at the cost of $294, that this is not included in the "comprehensive maintenance" from Mini, and that this service would need to be done annually. I found this surprising and inconsistent with the integrity I have known BMW represents. 2) As a part of my service I complained of a rattling noise in the area near my tachometer. After examining the car Brian called me and advised me that the tach would need to be replaced. Three days later I picked up my car and soon noticed that the new tachometer did not have the silver bezel like the original had matching the balance of my dashboard. I called Brian and asked about this. After placing me on a brief hold, Brian came back on the line and said that they didn't make tachometers with the silver bezel anymore, they couldn't use the bezel from the tach that they took out, and maybe the bezel was what was causing the noise. There was nothing he could do and I would just have to live with the black bezel that no longer matches the rest of my gagues and dash features. I did not find this answer to seem credible or helpful. I may be wrong about the bezel, but it did not seem like a reasonable response. I would like someone from Mini to explain to me why a recommended service is not included in "comprehensive maintenance" plans. I would also like to understand why a defective tachometer could not be replaced with one that matches my other gagues thus degrading the value of my vehicle. I would like to be able to continue having my vehicle serviced at Escondido Mini, but at this time I have some concerns about their practices."   –   Terrence U., San Diego, CA Feb 17, 2012

I had taken my Clubman to Brecht before for service and I was less than thrilled by the attention I received from my service advisor- he never answered his phone or returned calls- and I have since taken my business elsewhere. However Brecht is more convenient to where I live so I gave them another chance when my rear door latch broke, and Brandon did such an awesome job- getting me in quickly, getting me a loaner and just being affable and professional- that I wouldn't hesitate to bring my Mini back to Brecht.     "Granted it was not a scheduled trip to MINI for service, but an engine light that went on en route to picking up my spouse from dropping off a car for service at a different shop, but the timing of MINI running out of courtesy cars for us to continue on with our Christmas shopping was unfortunate. We were left in Escondido with both cars in the shop and no courtesy car to continue on with our errands as planned. The shuttle service was appreciated, but I was disappointed that this was the best that was offered to us in light of how the service/loaner program was sold to us at the time of purchasing our MINI. Having said that, your shuttle drivers were great. Secondly, I'm not sure if it was conicidence or somehow related, but later that evening shortly after picking up the car, I heard a noise coming from the back of the car, when I arrived home I realized that it was the honeycomb insert to the rear bumper that had come loose and was dragging on the ground. The timing has me questioning if it was somehow service related, but I understand that it could be pure coincidence; either way, an engine light, no courtesy car and parts falling off and dragging on a 8 month old car are reasons that keep me from rating the experience higher than I have."   –   Steven K., Rancho Santa Fe, CA Dec 28, 2011

Was kind of surprise that I was told that there is another service scheduled in April that I will need to fork out another $250+ to clean the fuel filter. Being in business myself, I understand selling additional service is a way to generate additional revenue. But it would generate a better NPS score (customer satisfaction) if customers were clearly told up front what is recommended and what is optional and what are anticipated costs.
