Our Employee Spotlight on Client Advisor Joe Chen
We’d like to formally introduce Joe Chen, our leading client advisor for MINI. He’s been working with us since October 2017 and has a growing list of happy repeat clients and referrals. His hard-earned #28 jersey (28 is his personal record of cars sold in a month), is a reminder to all that he’s a team player with a serious work ethic to back up his customer service.
Joe applied for a sales position with us after working a few years as a grocery clerk; he just wanted to make a career change. He graduated from UCSD with his Bachelor’s degree in political science, but when he looked at pursuing his law degree he wasn’t excited about student debt. This decision makes him a bit of a rebel, as nearly all his relatives are doctors or lawyers. However, Joe proudly carries the same work ethic and integrity in everything he does, and it shows.
What it’s like to work with a foodie.
Joe is an Escondido local and met his wife in college. Together they care for his father, and when he’s not at the dealership you can find him delivering pizzas in his BMW i3 just for fun. Joe is a serious foodie, and often finds new and neat places for our team lunches. If you haven’t heard of Burger Bench, Nice Food, or Marisco’s Germán, then you haven’t talked to Joe. He’s our go-to guy when we are scratching our heads, and if you and your spouse can’t decide on dinner, he’s worth texting for an idea.
Joe chose to work at MINI of Escondido because the dealership is a family-oriented place where the people still matter and you are not just an employee number to HR. He finds the relaxed environment unique, and everyone is courteous to one another and it’s not a cutthroat environment like other dealerships. This benefits the culture of the store and the customers alike, and Joe has seen this first-hand. To him, there is nothing better than the joy they have when customers find the perfect car.
